Staying for 1 month as a volunteer at Askari is a life changing experience. In 1 month you learn so much about nature and nature conservation, it is mind blowing! Next to that you are able to contribute to nature/animal conservation as well. And when you get back home (which you don’t want to do after 4 weeks), you will have gathered amazing stories and will have new lifetime friends from all over the world! It’s not a surprise that a lot of volunteers (want to) return....

It’s better than I imagined. Amazing experience. Katie and Ed are the super heroes of the bush and the Big 5! Our team “High 5, Big 5” had awesome people. Thanks for sleep out, walk in the bush and everything else which was wonderful....

My time here in Askari has been very special. I learned so much about nature. Being here helped me change my perspective towards life. I feel like now I have even more respect towards nature. I am not only taking pictures and knowledge back home but also a big commitment to take care of this planet. I am also super thankful that I got to share this experience with very special people. I loved every second here in Askari and I hope I can be back soon...

This month at Askari was completely awesome, from the beginning to the end. It was a beautiful experience and thanks to two incredible guides, Ed and Katie, we have learned a lot about the bush. I recommend Askari, you can go there with your eyes closed. Thank you Ed and Katie, thank you Askari....

Askari met and exceeded expectations and is so much more than advertised. The depth of knowledge both Katie & Ed have is mind blowing. Thankfully, they patiently repeat things so you can absorb it. It is truly its own world on Pidwa, a very special one! Katie and Ed’s passion and enthusiasm is infectious....

Askari is a wonderful way to experience the South African wilderness in an entirely different way than typical safaris or tourist volunteer programs. Volunteers are “up close and personal” with the operation of a true conservation reserve, experiencing first-hand the effort, rewards and heartbreak of working to restore and maintain the natural environment. Highly recommended for people willing to learn and get their hands dirty. It’s an enriching experience....

This was the best experience in my life. I loved everything about it, from working hard to making new friends. When I first came here I was very nervous, after a few days this was already gone because of the fun. Because this is the perfect combination between hard work and making friends and I would love to come back....

I liked my stay at Askari very much. We learned a lot about wilderness and conservation. You live with a group of people in one house. That is cozy. But yes you have to work, but  the work is very enjoyable. And all the staff members are very nice. If you get the chance to go just go. It is a once in a lifetime and I recommend to go to Askari to do all those things....

I enjoy very much my time at Askari. It was amazing to live in the bush during one month with Katie & Robbie and my great team of volunteers. I saw lots of animals and I learned a lot of things everyday. I will never forget my experience at Askari. Also, I found a lot of friends and I improve my English. The activities are very varied and interesting. Katie & Robbie take time to explain very good a lot of things about the bush & wilderness. The night outside was a really fun and amazing experience. I thank them a lot for their generosity, their knowledge, their good mood and their kindness. I wish the best to Askari, Katie...

This trip was absolutely amazing. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and definitely knew a lot about everything to do with the reserve. It was amazing to see all the different animals and their behaviours. It was also interesting to learn about the different ecosystems and observe how different the topography was here compared to back home. Overall, this was an absolutely incredible trip that I will always remember....
