This is my 4th visit to Askari and I’m totally addicted. Having done a number of volunteer projects around the world, this is by far the best! The balance of adventure, education, work experience is great! Hard to find fault. Katie is exceptional, with outstanding organizational skills. She goes above and beyond all the time....

After my studies I wanted to do something that makes sense to me, working for or with animals was really my desire. I found Askari and it fulfilled both my desire and my dream to go to Africa, this very special land that called me. It was my first time volunteering, I discovered so many things here that it would take me hours and days to talk about it. This experience made me meet such beautiful people, such passionate and admirable staff members and roommates of the world. I could never forget this particular moment in my life. It became normal to see these extraordinary animals in freedom and around the house. Like the giraffe at sunset eating peacefully right...

I don’t know where to start. The stay at Askari really turned into the best experience of my life! Every day was amazing… meeting amazing new people, making new friends, seeing the most awesome animals, learning so much about the bush and conservation, having super enthusiastic guides and so much more! The staff are all very friendly and each day ensure we come home to a clean room. You really learn more about yourself and it’s really nice to get a break from the city and hear the sound of the bush. I am sad to leave but at the same time so happy that I can share my stories with my family and friends I would recommend Askari for...

This volunteering was for me a way to get involved in environmental conservation and to understand the impact of our life and decisions on biodiversity. In one month, I learned so much about nature and its conservation, it was incredible! Katie & Donald are exceptional guides and people who always make sure you get the most out of your stay and really feel involved in the management of the reserve. I am and will always be grateful in many ways for my time at Askari, and leave this experience with a better sense of myself and a better sense of life....

My stay at Askari was wonderful, I enjoyed everything in the bush, the sessions of work, the animals, the tour trips and the house. Askari is a real serious programme that really aims at working on the conservation of a reserve in Africa. I felt so happy and proud to have been part of such an amazing project. Each people I met were nice, helpful and available when we needed it. Katie is doing an amazing job as the manager of Askari and she is really passionate about it. It is such a pleasure to share this passion with her. Same for Donald, he is also passionate and in involced in his misison here. The house of volunteers is also...

This was my second trip to Askari. I have a lot of amazing memories here. I’d recommend this project to anyone, the feeling you get being here and giving something back to the environment, the sightings, and the knowledge you gain will stay with you forever. Th staff will always go the extra mile for you and that means a lot. Askari will always have a massive place in my heart and being the bird nerd champion tops it all off....

Well, what can I say? Having experienced Askari vicariously through my husband’s stay four years ago (2018 – almost to the day), nothing could have prepared me for the fantastic month I have just completed. While I had some idea of what to expect, actually being here and having the opportunity to witness the beauty and brutality that life at Askari offers is hard to put into words. Honoured to see Rae, the cheetah, on our first drive around the reserve. We were brought to earth sharply within a few days later when she was laid to rest following an encounter with Zamula (lion), the circle of life I guess. Katie is an absolute gem! Her natural and engaging manner puts...

Askari is a program rich in discoveries and emotions. In one month, I was able to acquire a great deal of knowledge about the flora and fauna and conservation issues within Pidwa in general. The mix between driving, physical work in the reserve and learning is perfect. Thank you to all the staff for being so enthusiastic and sharing their passion....

This was my second visit to Askari, and it was as enthusiastic as the first time. The team is so welcoming and has endless knowledge about the animals and the environment they live in. I was the oldest team member on this occasion but just fitted right in. This project really gives you an opportunity to experience Africa’s wildlife and the environment. Ensuring future generations get to see and enjoy them. Of course, there are serious reasons for running this project, but what a really fun time it is. I would recommend anyone, considering a volunteer project, to come to Askari. You will not be disappointed, and you will definitely be making a difference....

I had an extraordinary experience in Askari, I was the happiest in the world! I don’t have words strong enough to express all the happiness I’ve had here. It’s a great adventure with amazing people. Everyone is lovely here, a big thank you to you Katie and Ed, you are lovely, passionate. I felt at home here and would come back for sure! Thank you for everything, do not change anything. My dream has come true and it is thanks to you. Long live Askari. Love Askari. Thanks...
